Just note that since it’s been so many years since I’ve read it, back then I thought it was the best series ever, but now I can’t say whether the writing is good unless I read it again, because I’ve reread a few of my middle school/high school favorites and for some of them I thought the writing was very good back then but doesn’t seem nearly as fluid and vivid now. There’s actually a few scenes in the book that directly remind me of scenes that I can vaguely recall from POTO. The show features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe, and a book by Webber and Stilgoe. I don’t think she ever trusts him though, for multiple, very understandable reasons.Īnd while the book is YA, the darkness vibes are totally there. The film is an updated and gorier version of Lerouxs classic tale, and stars Robert Englund as the Phantom. There is a lot of stuff by ALW that I just don't care for, ie. Little and based on Gaston Leroux s 1910 novel of the same name. He definitely “NEEDS to have her” and he definitely loves her. 4 million 2 The Phantom of the Opera is a 1989 American horror film directed by Dwight H. I can’t recall if he feels “unworthy” throughout the series. He’s even a “casted out” type of character, he definitely kidnaps the heroine, she’s totally reluctant (“reluctant” but not really lol), there’s definitely a “truth” to be found (and it’s an ugly one). Everything fits except the H isn’t ugly, literally everything else fits. I read it as a teen around the time we studied Phantom of the Opera in school actually. It’s YA but very sensual, rather than sexy-steamy.
